Using BandLab to record and edit audio

Getting Started with BandLab

  • To get started with BandLab, Click on the Sign in with Google option.
  • If it's your first time, it might ask you what kind of music you want to make. Skip through this until you reach the home screen.
  • From the Home Screen, click on the orange Create button, then Let's Make Music.
  • Click on Voice/Mic.
  • When you are ready to record, click on the Red Circle.

Importing Music into BandLab

  • To import music, make sure that you have an mp3 file downloaded. You may want to use https://ytmp3.cc/ to convert a YouTube video and download the file.
  • Once your file is downloaded to your computer, click Add Track on the left hand side of the screen.
  • Select Import Audio/Midi
  • Click on the audio file that you want to import
  • Voila! You're all set

Editing Audio Levels in BandLab

  • To change how loud or quiet a part of your audio recording is, click on the Show/Hide Automation button on the left of your screen, next to the Add Track button.
  • From here, select the track that you want to change.
  • Click anywhere to add a node. Once a node is there, you can raise or lower the volume by dragging it up or down.
  • You can create a fade-in/fade-out effect by using this tool
  • Voila! You're all set

Exporting an mp3 from BandLab

  • Click on the Download button.
  • Select Mixdown as...
  • The file will take some time to mix together a final copy
  • Save as a High Quality MP3
  • Click Download
  • Voila! You're all set
